Research Tips Search Links for Kids Here are some search engines designed Ask Jeeves for Kids http://www.ajkids.com/ Information Please Kids http://kids.infoplease.com/ KidsClick http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/KidsClick!/ Kids of America Safe-Search http://www.kidsofamerica.com/ Yahooligans http://www.yahooligans.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Internet Search Tips for Children! 1) Be specific about your topic words used for searches; think of synonyms that might work better in a search. 2) Double-check your spelling. 3) Use lower case letters for search words that are not proper nouns. 4) Use the word "and" between two or more words to search two topics that will be included in the same site. 5) Use the word "or" between two or more words to include either topic in a web site. 6) Don't search with plural words; use the singular of each word. 7) When searching for proper nouns, be sure to use capital letters, as in a name of a person or place. 8) Use quotation " " marks to include words in a specifc order for exact phrases (example: "apple pie"). 9) Don't use slang words in search topics; type in plain English. 10) The "hits" or responses at the top of the list are more likely to be the best sources for your search. 11) If you do not get any "hits" or sites listed for your topic, use a different search engine. 12) If few or no hits are made, use the link for "Relative Terms" (on some search engines) to find related information to your topic.
